Hallowe’en is one celebration that ranks highly in Oliver’s books. I think he takes after his Mum that way as she LOVES Hallowe’en. As a boy, I didn’t really get that “into” Hallowe’en. I did the normal dress-up/trick or treating that most kids do. But what I remember most about Hallowe’en is being in a […]
Here are some photos from our annual trip to Downey’s Farm in North Brampton. We always have a blast visiting this place just before Hallowe’en and this year was no exception. Oliver had fun playing a bit of mini-golf, running on the hay bails, and challenging us to races on the large go-cart-type-tricycles. The afternoon […]
It was an unseasonably warm Thanksgiving this year and for the first time in my lifetime, we got to spend it out on the water. We took a quick day-trip up to visit with Oliver’s Nana & Grand Dad, spending the day cruising the open waterways for beautiful Autumn colours and crisp, fresh air. I […]
We’re cat people. There, I said it. I’ve always thought of myself as a dog person until I owned a cat as a pet. I was converted. Sold. So, when we lost both of our elder cats within the same year, it hit us hard. But we slowly got ready to become pet owners again. […]
Everyone that knows me knows that I love to eat. You can definitely win your way to my heart if you provide me with a good (ok great) meal. So it makes a lot of sense that when the organizers of the Food Truck Festival of Ontario announced that they were doing the event all […]
Our annual trip to Wasaga Beach as a family is always a great time. We pine for the beach a lot and we always leave wondering why we don’t make time to get up there more. We enjoyed the day eating junk food, building sand castles in the sun and swimming in the wonderfully warm […]
While we were out in Eastern Ontario, we were able to also visit our good friends Lindsay and Andy and their three AWESOME boys. We had a relaxing time lounging by the pool, visiting a cool market in downtown Kingston, and eating great food. It was exactly what we needed to end off the summer. […]
Reunions. They can either be really great or really crappy. This time around, we got the latter. A close high school friend of Dana’s invited us to a little cottage her family had rented. There were a few other high school friends going that Dana hadn’t seen in a while so it was a lot […]
It had been a long LONG while since we’d been to the ROM. We were desperate to find an outing to do as a family so we decided to head to downtown Toronto and visit the Museum. When we went, the had the Pompeii exhibition on which was really unearthing to see. We had a […]
It’s no secret that we love taking road-trips. Long or short, multiple day or just an afternoon, it’s a cheap way to get out and spend some time together as a family. We sometimes have a destination, others we just get in the car and drive. On this particular weekend, we decided to take a […]
Just a few black and white photos of Oliver as he lounges on the couch. This was probably one of our sleepy, laid-back Sundays where we enjoy hanging out as a family. Cheers! trevor.
Oliver really got into Pokemon last year. As he got towards the end of the school year, we picked up some cards for him he didn’t have and a new binder book to hold everything. He used to sit on the floor in the dining (aka drinking) room and sort his cards for hours. Here […]
Wow – it’s been almost 10 months since the last update to this blog. Geez! That’s crazy. Look out viewers, some of these updates are going to come fast and furious as I try to catch up. So when we last chatted, we celebrated Oliver’s Grandpa’s 70th birthday. Right after that, we were fortunate enough […]
As a surprise, Grandma threw a party for Grandpa’s 70th birthday with all his neighbourhood friends. He was completely surprised and I think he enjoyed the get together and all the attention. We had a wonderful afternoon full of catered lunch, cake and great conversation. Here are some photos we took that afternoon. Cheers! t.
Just another day around our household. Cheers! t.
Oliver surprised us by joining the choir in the second half of the school year. They put on a little performance for their schoolmates and Dana was able to film it. Enjoy! t.
So, since there is snow on the ground in these photos, I’d say I am tad bit behind in posting these images. Ah well, here they are now. If I remember correctly, Dana got a new jacket/outfit and she wanted some fun photos of her walking in the middle of the street. Of course that […]
As a Dad, there are some things in life that you want your son to experience for the first time with you and no one else. When I grew up, the Toronto Maple Leafs were a staple in our household. If there was a Leaf’s game on, that’s what you were watching. Now I haven’t […]
Sometimes you have to just go for it. Oliver has been increasingly short with me when I point a camera at him. He’ll shy away; give some sort of goofy face or just plain look down and away from the lens. He’ll give me nothing. So when Oliver was dressing up in some of his […]
Oliver likes to put together Lego figurines and pretend they are some of this favourite super heroes. I am sure there are Lego branded super hero figurines but this way is so much better in my opinion. Oliver allowed me just a glimpse of his imaginative world that he was building one afternoon and never […]
Ok so this video may not be for everyone. But Oliver was just too funny not to film. We were having a serious conversation about eating healthily and how you can’t just have sweets and other “treats” without their being consequences to your health. In true Oliver fashion, he decided to break out into a […]
It’s no secret that Oliver really loves Lego. Santa was really generous this year and he brought the Lego Star Wars Ewok Village to our household. I’m surprised Oliver could contain his excitement when he opened the gift, let alone wait two days to put it together. I believe the set has a couple of […]
More Christmas celebrations, this time on Boxing Day with the Ruprechts. We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of presents and dinner. Oliver loves his cousin so much and it always is so cute to watch them play together. They even made us wear hats at dinner. I think Nana looks especially cute in her Cowgirl hat. […]
Christmas morning is always fun around our household. You think you understand the magic of Christmas but I’d argue that it’s not something you can truly understand until you see it through the eyes of your son or daughter. It’s an exceptional time of year; one where all the planning and hard work pays off. […]
