Every year we’ve taken Oliver to visit Santa at the Bramalea City Centre. When Santa comes there, he is always in a good mood and Oliver really enjoys seeing him. It’s also really fun to have a “family photo” taken with Santa each year. You can see how much we’ve changed over the past three years just by comparing the photos (year one here and year two here). Oliver is really growing up quickly!

Video Short: Oliver’s 3rd Birthday

We didn’t take many photos on Oliver’s actual birthday but we did manage to get a couple of videos in. Oliver and I went to the grocery store the previous week and Oliver saw a cake with ice cream cones on the side. He said that was the one he wanted. So, when it came time to get him a cake, despite the synthetic sugary mess these cakes normally are, we got the one he wanted. As you can see, he enjoyed it immensely.

oliver connell | day one thousand & forty-five

For three years running now – we’ve taken a little family trip to Downey’s Farm. If you recall, the first year we just took Oliver to their pumpkin patch. The second visit, we actually explored all that the Farm had to offer. It was a great time and we’ve enjoyed going every year. This year we went with good friends Yvan and Kathryn, along with their beautiful children Leo and Marlo. It was another warm day and we found ourselves surrounded by a ton of other families. Note to self, try to avoid visiting the farm on the Canadian Holiday days, there are just too many people!

But again we took some fun photos in the pumpkin patch, went on a pony and wagon ride, and played with all the toys and different activities they have. It really is a great place for families to spend the day – especially in the wonderful fall weather.

Once again we celebrated Canada Day with our friends and old neighbours at the annual Rosedale Street Party. If you remember this is the day when Rosedale Ave. gets closed down for about 50+ kids and their families to play on trampolines, in bouncy castles, on fire trucks and in a little street hockey game. Everyone pitches in for some good eats and then there is the bike parade, chalked full of decorated bikes and wagons complete with some very happy, smiling kids. The day is capped off with some awesome fireworks!

It’s always a blast and I hope you enjoy the photos and the video below.

As Oliver gets older, his expressions seem to get more animated. I’m not sure if it’s just that he likes to ham it up for the camera now, or if he actually does make these expressions all the time. It’s probably a bit of both.

….and just in case you are wondering, yes that is a bowl on Oliver’s head. He decided it would be something he’d like to wear one evening while we were making pancakes for dinner together.

Nonetheless, don’t you just love those BIG blue eyes?

Easter at home is always fun! It’s especially fun with Oliver as he loves to be surprised and of course, he loves his chocolate. The Easter Bunny also brought along a couple of Oliver’s favourite things in life: a sticker book and some die-cast cars inspired by the Pixar movie Cars.

Once we got our chocolate breakfast out of the way, Mom & Dad Ruprecht spent the afternoon and evening with us, enjoying some great food and excellent company. It was a really great day.

Back in April, Oliver, Dana and I attended Luca’s 2nd birthday party. We haven’t been to many kids parties in a while but this one was a lot of fun! Oliver got to play at an indoor playground, eat some pizza, and of course, had some birthday cake. Luca was a little shy over the attention his birthday cake was bringing him but as you can see from the video below, Oliver had no qualms about stepping in and helping out! LOL!
