Our son, Oliver Trevor Jay Connell, was born on this day, November 30th, 2008 at Headwater’s Hospital in Orangeville Ontario Canada. It’s true when you hear people say that the birth of their child changes their lives forever. This was the toughest, but most rewarding day Dana and I have ever had. We went through exciting highs and complete lows, which can only be described as a roller-coaster ride of a day. We were blessed to have a wonderful Doula (birth coach) in April Hoyt (website here) and the support of all our family. It was a long 24 hours of labour, but as you can see from the photos below, it was well worth it. Oliver was delivered a healthy 8lbs, 13ozs, and was 22 inches long. If anyone knows us, you’ll understand that this size of boy was quite large for Dana’s 5 foot quarter inch frame. Nonetheless, she was a complete trooper, fighting every step of the way. She is undeniably the strongest woman I know.
