As a surprise, Grandma threw a party for Grandpa’s 70th birthday with all his neighbourhood friends. He was completely surprised and I think he enjoyed the get together and all the attention. We had a wonderful afternoon full of catered lunch, cake and great conversation. Here are some photos we took that afternoon. Cheers! t.
My cousin Shelley married her longtime boyfriend/fiancĂ© in a beautiful ceremony in midtown Toronto. The reception was held at Graydon Hall Manor in East Toronto. This was the perfect opportunity for us to get all dressed up and enjoy the day with our family. It was also the perfect day to make sure we got […]
Oliver was expecting the Easter Bunny to bring him treats but he also got surprised with a few new Skylander toys. The Easter Bunny even stopped at Grandma and Grandpa’s house and left a few goodies in their capable hands. I love his expression in the photos below as he’s opening the gifts. Oliver’s Grandma […]
Our second of two Christmases happened on Boxing Day this year at Grandma and Grandpa Connell’s house. Unfortunately, we were all still fighting off colds, and I came down with the flu which really put a damper on things. We took some photos of Oliver opening his gifts but then the camera got left in […]
–Part three of three– Here’s the last post of images from our cottage vacation this past summer. As you can see from these photos, we had some fun in the boat, took some photos of great textures and colours, found a really cool cross-section of a wasp’s hive, and did a little work too. Dana […]
— Part two of three — Here are some more photos from our family vacation to Cedar Tip, the Connell family cottage which is located way, way up in northern Ontario. In this post of photographs, you’ll see we introduced Oliver to the board game Life; Oliver took some photos; and we enjoyed some more […]
— Post one of three — We spent a week at the family cottage this year. It’s a long trek to get there (roughly 7 hours give or take) but it’s always worth it when you get to spend a week playing on the beach, fishing, eating outside, and reuniting with close family friends. That’s […]
Family reunions. They don’t happen very often in my opinion but when they do, you always leave the event wondering why you can’t do it more. Dana’s side of the family is quite good at getting together twice a year (for a family picnic in the summer and a Christmas party in December) but my […]
Oliver’s Grandmother was celebrating her 65th birthday this year so we had a little party for her, complete with her closest relatives. We had wonderful Ukrainian food, lots of presents and great laughs. Oh, and there was cake – how could we forget that? Cheers! t.
Christmas Day is a day most of us look forward to. This year however, I think most of us in the Connell household would just rather hope that next years is better and forget what’s already been. You see, Oliver was sick, then Dana slowly came down with the flu as well, culminating with all three of us getting it and effectively ruining our Christmas/New Year’s plans and holidays this year. We didn’t…
We had a little party for Oliver’s 4th birthday. Nothing huge, just a couple friends, some games, treats, and presents. It was a cowboy-themed event, and the kids seemed to really enjoy the activities Dana planned out for them. Definitely a highlight for me was making s’mores in our fireplace…
Another year and another Easter was upon us. This year, the Easter weekend fell on the same weekend as Oliver’s Papa’s birthday so we had two things to celebrate. So, we headed up to Victoria Harbour for another memorable visit full of good eats, presents and good company. It was such a beautiful day, we spent a good chunk….
Oliver received a leapfrog learning device from his Grandma and Papa for Valentine’s Day. This is him opening it.
Oliver and I took another visit to Grandma and Papa’s house – this time to celebrate my birthday. It’s been a great winter to head north because for the most part, the roads have been good and it’s nice to escape to some snow! We haven’t had much down here…
Wow – was Christmas day a lot of fun this year! We had Santa pay us a visit early Christmas morning and he spoiled us rotten. SPOILED. ROTTEN. We had a lot of fun opening all the gifts that were left under our tree. I then got to working on cooking…
For Oliver’s 3rd birthday, Dana and I wanted to redo his bedroom. We knew we had stretched Oliver’s sleeping in a crib for as long as we could. It’s not very often that you hear of toddlers still sleeping in a crib by their third birthday…
In August, Dana and I returned to our family cottage “Cedar Tip” to try another week of vacationing with Oliver. If you recall, the first trip was when Oliver was still quite young and unfortunately, it was…
Another Father’s Day has come and gone. Once again, the Ruprecht’s and the Connell’s got together in Port Severn at Mom & Dad Ruprecht’s place to celebrate Father’s Day. We spent a lot of the day…
Boxing day saw Grandma and Papa come for a visit to celebrate Christmas with us. They arrived in the early afternoon on Boxing Day, stayed for dinner and the night. Oliver loves…

November was a really hectic month around the Connell household. Dana was in full production mode for two craft shows…
Day six hundred and seventy nine (are you getting tired of all these numbers yet??? LOL!) saw Mum, Daddy and Oliver take a trip north to cousin Bobby’s house. It was Mum’s…
Day five hundred & sixty-seven saw us take a quick trip up to Mom & Dad Connell’s for the afternoon to celebrate Father’s Day. We only snapped a couple of photos this day, but they’re quite…
Mother’s day every year is a hectic day for us that Connell household. We usually end up trying to cram in as much visiting as possible on this day, which means we are trekking across most of Ontario! This year…
